Is 4 A.M. the Most Popular Time of the Day?
Seven years ago, Rives, a performance poet and multi media artist, mused about a poem he read by Wislawa Szymborska titled Four in the Morning. He was drawn to the poem, but he couldn’t figure out why.
Then he started to notice how often the time “4 a.m.” appeared in popular culture. He kept seeing movies, hearing songs and reading books that would reference this odd time. He noticed 4 a.m. was getting far more play than other times of the day.
After giving the talk, people from all around the world started sharing other bits of media, literature, music, etc that made reference to the time. Rives curated all of these references into something he calls “The Museum of Four in the Morning.”
So, have you ever really noticed how often 4 a.m., for being such an odd time, gets referenced?
