10 Best New MLB Stadium Food Items According to Darren Rovell’s Twitter Feed

Buy me some peanuts and cracker jacks, I don’t care if I ever get back.

It’s time to update Take Me Out to the Ball Game. The American classic has grown out of date. Today, if you go to a ballpark, you aren’t looking for peanuts and cracker jacks – you’re looking for gourmet food.

Gourmet food options have been popping up over the years at ballparks. These cathedrals of America’s Past Time have started striking vendor deals with local restaurants that make signature dishes, providing more unique food options to fans.

This year, there appears to be a slew of amazing new food items at ballparks around the country, and Darren Rovell seems hellbent on tweeting a picture of every one of them.

Here’s what I deem the top 10 new food items of the 2014 MLB season, using images tweeted (or re-tweeted) by Mr. Rovell.

10. Arizona’s Venom Dog

Is there anything more southwestern than this?

9. Seattle’s Crab Roll

Crab from the Pacific Northwest? You can’t go wrong.

8. Houston’s Nolan Ryan NY Strip Sandwhich

Love the name, and fried onions makes everything better.

7. Colorado’s Pretzel Pastrami Sandwhich

Pretzel rolls are in right now and you can never go wrong with pastrami, but the russian dressing is what intrigues me the most here.

6. Houston’s Texas Hold ‘Em

I’m all in for anything that combines BBQ and coleslaw, but adding fries and cheddar cheese? Yes, please.

5. Toronto’s Liberty Village Smoked Pork

Dijonaise!

4. Fenway’s Breakfast Burger

Would love to go to Fenway and try this on Patriot’s Day.

3. Pittsburgh’s The Closer

Nine different types of cheese? I didn’t even know there were that many.

2. Minnesota’s Bloody Mary

IT COMES WITH A BURGER!

1. Arizona’s D-Bat Dog

The masterpiece. An 18-inch corn dog stuffed with cheddar cheese, jalapenos and bacon. I don’t know how you top this. Make sure to eat with your heart medication.
