Coca-Cola Promotes Old-School Social Engagement

I thought this was a really cool video from Coca-Cola last month. In order to get incoming college freshman to talk to each other, they gave away free Coke bottles that needed to be connected to another bottle in order to open. Want to have your free coke? You have to go make a friend first.

Now, I don’t know the actual effectiveness of this marketing campaign. It seems more clever than successful, but Coca-Cola has enough of a marketing budget that they can attempt cool and interesting projects like this without being solely focused on ROI.

It’s also safer than the other way college freshman meet new people – alcohol.
